Premiership Success

Roy Chillemi has recently been awarded his 8th Townsville Trainers Premiership. He has won 8 of the last 9 Premierships awarded by the Townsville Turf Club. With 24 wins to his name from 128 starters.

The Chillemi stables have enjoyed another successful racing year even with the disruption of a month long suspension. This premiership is made extra special to have managed to take out the title with the suspension in place.

Lets hope the Chillemi stables can make it another premiership for the 2011 - 2012 season.

Chillemi Hands Over Star Horse to Daughter

Roy Chillemi signed over star horse Kanetoshi King during the carnivals this year to his daughter Melanie. Melanie had just obtained her trainers license and had always had a special connection with Kanetoshi King, the horse she affectionately calls "Willy". He was to be her first horse to train.

Melanie has worked under Roy for many years and had made the decision to pursue her own training career by obtaining a license. She shares the stables at Tanbrook lodge and has a few horses to her name. She has had an early taste of success with Kanetoshi King and some place runs from Hideout.

The family gene for the passion of racing has well and truly been passed on. With Roy and Melanie working together they make a formiddable team, and success is sure to come.

About Roy Chillemi

Roy has been training for 25 years. In that time he has won six Queensland Provincial and Country Premierships, Seven Townsville Premierships, and an amount of Far North Queensland Premierships. His strike rate of runners to winners is second to none. Roy has a great passion for training and buying horses which he has done for a great many years. He has many southern contacts for which he can rely on for purchasing tried horses at reasonable prices.

He has been married for 37 years and has two daughters, Melanie and Cherie. Melanie is stable foreperson and has filled this position for 8 years. Carmel, his wife of 37 years does the office work with the help from daughter Cherie.

The Chillemi racing stables has a very high credibilty and is respected as a very competitive racing stable.

The stables are located in Tolga, on the Atherton Tablelands, Far North Queensland. Roy decided to situate himself in Tolga because of the cooler weather. The stables are called Tanbrook Lodge. They are sitauated on the Kennedy Highway directly opposite Morrow Park Racecourse, Tolga.

The stables can be inspected at any time by appointment.
